Re: Bottlecap

"I see...well while that is impressive I'm afraid that if you two did want a job with us you wouldn't be able to. I do hope that's not what you were expecting, Winslow has a habit of making deals or offers he can't afford." She said with a slightly ashamed look as she looked at her associate.

The skunk grinned nervously, as she said that. There was truth to that statement, in fact, that was how he had managed to make so many enemies because he had no way of paying them back or upholding his part of the deal. He had wished she wouldn't have said that, considering he promised the two kids twenty dollars which he wasn't going to give him anyway; Winslow was actually relying on his luck with that one, hoping that the two of them would forget that he ever offered it, and now he had to rescue himself from the situation.

"Aha, not only beautiful but quite the joker as well. It's no wonder the Cervinos chose to help you especially after they dealt with your husband," he laughed a little nervously.

"It helps when you have sex appeal on your side, hun," Beverly replied with a lighthearted smile as she picked up on the fact that he was potentially in trouble again. How typical of him.

Topshooter breathed a sigh of relief. At least the cat wasn't going to be giving the two of them a job here. He really didn't want to be in this place any longer than needed. Besides, it wasn't like they could anyway. Not with the mafia hot on their tails. Staying in one place too long was sure to mean death. And he didn't feel like dying anytime soon.

As they learned to the cat and skunk talk to one another, the two cups shared a looked with each other. They had no idea what they were going on about and felt lost to no end. But neither of them voiced it aloud. It didn't seem as though the she-cat had caught into what Winslow was trying to get out of with them sticking around.

"Well anyway, I bet these boys oughtta get goin', wouldn't want their parents to miss them. Our job here is done, now the two of ya can be on your way and I'll even have Bev appoint Torchy as your own personal bodyguard. Sound cool?" He said quickly not really giving anyone a chance to interrupt what he was saying in order to put their two cents worth in.

Beverly frowned at the idea of her enforcer being their bodyguard, they weren't apart of their gang so there wasn't any guarantee that the fox would kill these children if given the chance. If anything she should send Winslow with him if she chose to make Gustav protect them on their way to wherever.

"You know if I did that, you'd have to go too," she reminded him.

"Yeah, well, maybe ya could take my place? I wouldn't want to risk him wringing my neck when we're alone again."

The two brothers shared a look with each other. A bodyguard? Why would Winslow offer to give them a personal bodyguard? It didn't make a bit of sense to the children. What was so dangerous that they needed one in the first place? It wasn't like they weren't grateful for the offer; they were, they just didn't get the reasoning behind it. However, a bodyguard could have come in handy. They would have someone to help them fight off the mafia that would be coming after them.

"A bodyguard?" Bottlecap echoed, once he saw an opening in their chat.

"Yeah supposedly one of the other mafia crime families is all angry about something, so they're looking for someone and it's all dangerous and whatnot out there. Don't think kids like you should be out and about alone like this, considering." He said with a shrug, at least he had heard that through the grapevine and he wasn't exactly sure if that was true or not.

"Winslow, honey, don't go gossiping about things like that...and besides you, Gustav, and I have a deal to go make later so he wouldn't have to the time to escort them somewhere, and I wouldn't be able to accompany them. It's sweet you're showing concern for others though..."

Beverly had moved towards the door as she said that, looking at the children expectantly; it was clear that she was now waiting for them to decide to go, she would have loved to help them out considering what her associate said was true, but she couldn't possibly waste Gustav's time like that. And chances were if they showed up, he'd get in a tangle with the wrong kind of people and she couldn't afford to have him hurt in any way.

Bottlecap and Topshooter stiffened at the skunk's words. Other mafia families? They were a part of the mafia too? All be it, a different one, but a part of one all the same. The green cup winced, wrapping his arms around himself to stop from shaking from the sheer terror he felt. They knew. These guys knew to a point that the mafia they ran into before was looking for someone. The elder sibling feared what would happen if these guys found out it was them they were after.

He tried to keep his cool, however. He didn't want to look suspicious. He pushed his little brother towards the door, thanking them for allowing them to help out all the while.

"Maybe we'll see ya, boys, again! I'm always out and about so be sure to say 'hi', it gets rather lonely when ya have only fancy-pants to talk to during a gin run," Winslow called after the two as they made their way out the door. Chances were he wouldn't run into them again but it was always good to have a bit of hope especially when he could think of a million things he could get the two of them to help out with.

"Winslow, perhaps they'd leave faster if you shut your mouth, and I think I have a quick fix for that..." Gustav growled as he shot the skunk a murderous glare, he was delaying the two children on their departure and that wasn't exactly the best thing for them. The beans had already been spilled about them being part of the Cervino Family and no one seemed to see the problem in that but him.

"Don't murder the only person in this place who can make a deal without doing something drastic, at least until I can find him an apprentice of sorts..." their boss purred wickedly as she looked over at Winslow, "of course I'm only joking. You two kids have a safe trip, it was a pleasure having you in our presence."

The two cups waved in farewell towards the three mafia members. Once they were safe and sound away from them, Topshooter breathed a much needed sigh of relief. "That was close..."

I don't think they were goin' ta hurt us, Top."

"It's better to be safe than sorry..." the green cup mumbled as he picked himself up off the ground. "I don't know about you Cap, but I'd rather not die today."

"We won't die, relax."

"C'mon, we'd better keep moving."

"May I remind you how dangerous it is to allow others who know our identities get away just like that?" Gustav finally growled at the two of them as the children walked out the door. Winslow seemed nonchalant about the whole thing, not surprising, Beverly looked about the same but she gave him a somewhat sad smile. It seemed as though she pitied him for some reason.

"You're always so pessimistic, it breaks my heart to see you worry so much," she said, making her way toward her associate and placing a comforting paw on his shoulder. He seemed to relax somewhat but still kept his look of anger.

He had worked for the Cervinos most of his life and while he didn't feel any sentiment toward them, there was a certain sense of loyalty to where he wanted to make sure the ones he was near were protected from outsiders. The silver fox looked down at the white she-cat, her green eyes seemingly burning a hole through him.

"Especially considering the business we deal in, risks and danger are never anything new. You should be used to that by now...besides we have a better chance of getting killed during the deals Winslow makes than we do revealing ourselves to a pair of children who act like scared rabbits."

She moved away from him, back into the direction of the backroom. He had to admit she had a point, and he hated having to ever think that but unlike Winslow, she had a way of talking to him that seemed to draw his interest or just seemed to disarm him in general when he tried to show aggression towards her.

"With that said, we've got to get ready for our next deal. So if you're done fretting over small things, I would enjoy it if you both came to help," she said with a glance over her shoulder before she disappeared once again into the hidden gin joint.

Winslow followed her a little shortly, passing Gustav who seemed to be frozen in place at the moment. He shot the fox one of his signature grins, "I think she likes ya, I kind of smell a romance coming on, wouldn't ya agree?" The skunk giggled before he too disappeared into the backroom.
