Mooncry
Ruftan ran away from his abusive owner and stumbled across FlamePack, a Pack of wild dogs that live in the forest. He is taken into the Pack and is allowed to train with them and learn their ways. However, when dogs start to go missing, only to appear days later dead, the young pup makes it his mission to find the murderer and save his adoptive Pack.
- The Ranks:
Highest Rank
Alpha: The leader of the pack; can have a maximum of two alphas if the current alpha has a mate. Like any other leader the alpha will keep everything in order and occassionally lead hunting patrols or regular territory patrols, although at rare times they will lead scouting parties if they have received reports of strange activity within their territory if the corporal is absent or one hasn't been appointed yet by the lieutenant or general.
Mid-ranks
Sub-rank: Military
General: The leader of the dogs in the military sub-rank, they are in charge of picking and choosing which dogs will be the essential and main protectors of the pack. Amongst the military rank their word is law, and whichever orders they give must be obeyed; any insubordinance from those below a general will lead to a suspension and temporary demotion to either the second lowest rank in the military sub-rank or the lowest rank in the pack depending on the offence. If the offending canine continues, the general will be forced to forced to demote them permanently or their actions will lead to exile from the pack.
Lieutenant: The second in command in the military sub-rank, they will often assist with the picking of their soldiers or will asisst in giving orders, though whatever orders they choose to give out must be cleared with the general first. If the general is absent, the lieutenant will temporarily take over until the general returns; if something should happen to the general the lieutenant will take his or her place. Typically they are the ones to lead territory patrols.
Head-Corporal and corporals: The head-corporal is typically the third in command, and are in charge of any other corporal currently present in the military sub-rank. They are in charge of training new recruits and leading scouting parties which are sent out when suspicious activity takes place within the pack's territory. If the lieutenant is absent the head-corporal will temporarily take his or her place, if something should happen to the lieutenant the head-corporal will move into that position and appoint a new head-corporal.
Corporals are generally senior soldiers who have proved themselves worthy to move up in the sub-rank.
Soldiers: the second lowest rank in the military sub-rank, they are to obey orders and participate in patrols and scouting parties. They are expected to be tough, strong, hardy, and are required to have a lot of endurance.
Conscripts: the lowest rank in the military sub-rank, these are new recruits that the general picked to be in the sub-rank. They are to be trained to become soldiers, and are expected to occassionally run errands for the higher ranks in the military sub-rank.
Normal Mid-ranks
Hunters: The canines with the best agility and can move rather swiftly are generally made hunters by the alpha, there is no particular organized system amongst the hunters but any senior hunters will train new hunters or even sometimes pick pups to become hunters if the alpha is currently busy.
Shaman: The healer of the pack, the shaman will take care of any sick or injured dogs, they will also take on the roll of a messenger if the alpha needs to inform another pack about something. To kill or harm the shaman of another pack means a declaration of immediate war on said pack.
The shaman will pick and choose from the pups which he would like to train to take his place.
Informants: Canines who are the spies of the pack, they are sent out to temporarily take on a new identity and join a rival pack to gather information and report back to the alpha or the general. Usually picked by the alpha, but senior informants will also pick which pups they wish to train to be an informant.
Pupils: pups who are old enough to be trained as hunters, as a shaman, or as informants.
Lowest-ranks:
Guardians: the babysitters of the pack, usually older females and males who are retired but some younger males and females can be appointed as guardians if they choose to retire early or have been demoted from the military sub-rank due to a serious offence. They will watch over the pups when any of the queens chooses to join the hunters temporarily.
Pups: any pups that are too young to be pupils or conscripts.
Queens: Any female canine who is about to give birth or has given birth and is currently nursing their pups. If their pups are old enough to be without her for a short time but not old enough to be a pupil or conscript she will be able to take part in hunting, if she chooses to hunt one of the guardians will take over to watch over the pups and make sure they are safe and stay out of trouble.
